October 4th is World Habitat Day

More than 35 years ago, the United Nations General Assembly took an important step in promoting the idea that everyone deserves a decent place to live by declaring that the first Monday in October would be World Habitat Day. During World Habitat Day, Habitat for Humanity draws attention to the important role decent housing plays in elimination barriers to a better, healthier, more financially stable house.
It is unacceptable that even before the COVID-19 crisis, more than 17 million U.S. households were paying half or more of their income on housing. Now, as the significant economic impacts of COVID-19 continue to unfold, the number of families struggling to make ends meet is only growing.
Everyone deserves to build the foundation for a stable, healthy future for themselves and their families – no matter who they are, where they live, or how much money they earn.
Join us for World Habitat Day and year-round by lifting your voice to help people in need of decent and affordable housing:
  • Volunteer – volunteers play an essential role in helping us fulfill our mission to build homes in partnership with qualified families in need of a hand up.
  • Act Now – join our latest Cost of Home activities. Habitat for Humanity’s Cost of Home advocacy campaign. Cost of Home has already helped more than 4 million people access decent housing through advocacy to influence policies at the local, state, and federal level.
  • Spread the Word – help us share the importance of World Habitat Day on your social media by using the provided facts and photos.
  • Donate – strengthen our community and support Loveland Habitat in helping families build and own their own home.
