To qualify for a Habitat home, an applicant must:
- Have a need for adequate housing
- Have lived or worked in Loveland for at least a year
- Willing to partner with Habitat by working 250 volunteer hours (sweat equity) per adult applicant
- Are a US citizen or legal permanent resident
- Be able to pay a mortgage and meet the following requirements:
- No bankruptcy within the last 2 years
- No foreclosures in the last 3 years
- No current non-medical collections (medical collections must be less than 2,000)
- Current history of paying bills on time
- Monthly payment debt to Income ratio of 12% or below
- Be able to save $2,000 – $2,500 for closing costs
To apply for a Habitat home, an applicant must:
- Pick up or download the application packet
- Complete the application and gather documents from our checklist
- Attend an orientation
- Turn in all paperwork, including financial documents, on time
- Be interviewed by a selection committee
Habitat homes are affordable because:
- They are built by volunteers working with future homeowners
- House payments are 30 – 35% of the homeowners monthly income at origination
- Habitat offers no interest mortgage loans
Habitat homeowners are required to:
- Contribute 250-500 hours of “sweat equity”
- Attend budgeting, home maintenance, and other classes
